One of my favorite things about being a Macaroni Kid Publisher is finding great little shops and boutiques. I spend hours looking for places to visit, shop and to eat. JF Boutique was a store that caught my eye early on.
JF Boutique is owned and operated by Janelice Frederick inside the Lakeland Square Mall. Janelice is a proud wife of an Air Force veteran and mother of two handsome boys. JF Boutique was born out of Janelice's love of fashion. She began the company 15 years ago in North Dakota where her husband was stationed. Initially she focused on makings hair bows, tutus and accessories. As the family traveled the world JF Boutique began to expand by adding handmade women’s jewelry and clothing. After her husband retired from military life the family relocated to Lakeland and brought JF Boutique with them. While JF Boutique has only been open in Lakeland for 1 year the store has operated in 7 different cities including Guam. They launched their online store two years ago as a way to stay connected with fans from around the world.
A popular item at the moment is custom face masks. According to Janelice, the face mask line came about when she faced uncertainty with the store. The mall was closing due to the pandemic and she was unsure what was going to happen with her shop. On a whim she took a picture of herself wearing a mask and posted on social media. She started receiving request for masks almost immediately. JF Boutique then began offering a line of mask in fun patterns and colors for men, women and children. Recently they began to carry handmade glasses chains which are great to attach to masks and keep them on you when in the car.

JF Photography is another aspect of the company. JF Boutique has always kept a small studio on site to photograph new merchandise and customers. Recently they opened a separate photography studio next door. Janelice describes herself as a natural light photographer. She began taking pictures in North Dakota of friends children and that passion evolved along with her stores. The photography studio is equipped to handle couples, maternity, newborn, seniors, smash cakes and smaller families.
