End of the School Year Pictures

Thoughts and Printables

By Maricarmen Chavez-Walker May 22, 2020

Every year I take our son's picture in front of our home on the first and last day of school. It is a tradition we started while he was in daycare. At first I would scribble on a chalkboard and have him stand at the front door. Back then his backpack was almost as large as he was and the sign was almost always crooked. Gradually the signs became more elaborate and I would spend a few hours designing and creating a sign. Sometimes he loved the signs and other times he complained that the signs weren't very good. Each picture is a snapshot of who he was an how he changed throughout the year. The little boy who barely reached the door handle is well above it now. The door has changed again as we are in another home, in another town and he is in another school but his smile is still the same.

This school year has had many challenges and while we struggled with it at times there is something to be said for continuing our tradition. So this year I will take his sign by the front door of our new home an we will go back inside to do whatever is required for the day. I'm going to go about the end of school year the same as we always have with a picture, pizza and some snuggles and laughs. I only have him home for a few more years and I plan to make them as special as I can.

I created a few printables so that you too can take an end of school picture. Click HERE to access the PDF files
