Everything is AWESOME at the All New Legoland Beach Retreat!

By Neely Cruz April 11, 2017

Everything was awesome!

Last week, I and several other local Macaroni Kid publisher moms were invited to visit and preview the ALL NEW LEGOLAND Beach Retreat that opened just a few days ago in Winter Haven, FL. with our families. I can't speak highly enough about the resort, the park, the staff, the hospitality, professionalism. From start to finish our trip was wonderful.

When I received the invite I couldn't think of anyone better to take than my soon to be 12 year old nephew. He loves all things Legos and has been building them since he was a baby. He was so excited that not only was he going to miss two days of school, but that he'd be doing it so he could go to LEGOLAND Florida!

Due to the cool front coming in; if you can believe 75 is a cool front in Florida, we decided to hit the water park on day one and enjoy the rides and theme park attractions on Thursday when it was supposed to be a little overcast and cooler. We had such a great time at the water park on Wednesday, and the weather ended up being so nice we ended up back at the water park again for a few hours on Thursday.

The water park was new for us, as was most of the park as the last time we went he was very young and we got rained out. We managed to cover everything we wanted to do, see, and ride in those two days. We made our own rafts in the lazy river, the kids made giant buildings and rafts in the wave pool and even at the resort. Legos were overflowing.

When we arrived at the resort on Wednesday evening, check in was probably the simplest I have ever encountered. We checked in right at the front gate, received our room keys and bungalow assignment and off we went to our parking spot right next to our room. It was a short walk, no stairs, no long hallways, just a few steps down the sidewalk to our own personal little bungalow. There was a small playground right in front so the kids can play while mom and dad unpack. Each room has a small refrigerator, a king size bed, a flat screen television, hv/ac unit,  cute toilet with a child seat built right in, and a separate little room for the kids with 2 twin beds. Each room sleeps 5 comfortably. (Bunk with pull out trundle underneath) I have to say; and my mother and nephew will agree that the beds provided us with the best night's sleep we have had in years. Granted they were brand new but LEGOLAND knows how to pick them. Just out front is a small porch with a table and chairs so you can sit back, relax, watch the kids play on the playground and enjoy the beautiful unobstructed view of Lake Dexter.

If the kids want more, head on over to the hospitality center where there is a large pool and playground, volleyball court, a fire pit, and MORE Legos in the pool! I went live quite a few times that day so you can see more by visiting our FB page at https://www.facebook.com/lakelandmacaronikid/

Once it's time for dinner, there is a wonderful buffet inside with a great selection of parent and kid friendly food, and for mom and dad specifically; a well-stocked bar. If the kids want to get fancy, order them a specialty "non-alcoholic" cocktail. A full buffet breakfast is included with your stay and has a wide selection of goodies as well. If you are a slow eater and the kids are getting antsy, send them over to the giant Lego sandcastle where they can build till their heart's content. And if you need any gifts for yourself, or the kids, there is a great gift shop as well.

The shuttle runs to and from the park daily about an hour before the park opens and about an hour after the park closes for your leisure. As a guest of the resort you also get early access to the parks.

There is a nice variety of restaurants nearby as well if you want something different and a Publix is right around the corner as well as a Wal Mart a few miles down the street.

I give the all new LEGOLAND Beach Retreat 5 out of 5 Macaroni! As stated before, everything was truly awesome from start to finish. I want to thank the staff of LEGOLAND Florida for their friendliness and hospitality and for treating me and my family to a wonderful getaway to cover this event.
